Sexual Snakes, Winged Maidens and Sky Gods est un ouvrage rédigé en anglais en hommage à Claude Lévi-Strauss qui fête son 100ème anniversaire le 28 novembre 2008. Édité par Serge Dunis et préfacé par Jean Guiart, le livre réunit une pléiade d’auteurs internationaux, dont Ben Finney et Ward Goodenough, qui proposent leur propre interprétation de la mythologie des aires du Pacifique dont ils sont spécialistes. De la Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée à l’île de Pâques en passant par la Micronésie, la Mélanésie Insulaire, la Polynésie occidentale et la Polynésie orientale, s’élève alors le chant polyphonique du tiers liquide du globe.
Sexual Snakes, Winged Maidens and Sky Gods is a collective homage to Claude Lévi-Strauss who marked his 100th birthday in November this year, 2008. Edited by Serge Dunis and with a preface by Jean Guiart, the book brings together a constellation of international writers, including Ben Finney and Ward Goodenough who, in their various specialist spheres, give us their individual interpretations of Pacific mythology. From Papua-New Guinea to Easter Island, and spanning Micronesia, Island Melanesia and Western, as well as Eastern, Polynesia comes to us their multi-voiced chorus to celebrate this ocean-covered third of the globe.
